Welcome to our little Family Flower Farm
Here’s our story…
What happens when a theater artist and a writer flee the big city to start a farm? A lot. It was 2010, the onset of the iphone and social media, and we wanted to ensure that our boys would have a shot at the free-range childhood that we enjoyed, romping through nature and digging in the dirt. We found an old farmhouse in Connecticut and took the plunge. We leaned into our creativity and learned by doing. The tractor came first and we dug giant ‘WWI trenches’ with the backhoe. I knew nothing about farming but I did know that raised beds make flowers happy. Those beds are still the backbone of the farm and we practice sustainable, regenerative, no-dig, chemical-free, you name it, farming. In the past 15 years we’ve grown an infinity amount of flowers, sold just as many bouquets and have helped 100’s of couples say ‘I do.’ I love my farm, I love my family and I love my flowers. What more could a girl ask for?
Meet the Farmer…
My earliest memories involve wafting through my mother’s garden, climbing the lilac trees, picking forget-me-nots, gifting peonies to my ballet teacher. After college, I would landscape every apartment building I lived in just so I could have flowers in the spring. “I must have flowers, always and always,” just like Monet. When we bought our first house in Chicago we merged our postage stamp-sized garden with my neighbor’s sublime 30-year old oasis, and I crammed it full of every flowering species I could find. Growing flowers teaches patience, respect, humility. Nature rewards you with endless beauty in every season if you just open your senses and observe.
…and Designer
From picking my earliest handheld bouquet (roots and all) to studying ballet with the New York City Ballet, to a glorious career as a theater artist in Chicago, I have always surrounded myself with creativity and beauty. Known for my lush arrangements and natural style, my floral designs have that ‘just picked from the garden’ look and feel. There’s nothing I enjoy more than strolling through the gardens picking herbs and miniature blossoms for boutonnieres and flower bracelets, or discovering a perfect garden rose and tucking it into the bridal bouquet. I have over ten years experience growing and designing flowers, as well as fifteen years production experience for a large not-for-profit theater company. You can trust that you are in capable hands for all of your floral needs.
